Here is a very significant piece of Shelby Automative History. It is the very 1st 2006 Shelby GT-H. One of only 500 produced. Of that, only 4 of them came with 5 speed manual transmissions. It is car #001, “Carroll Shelby’s Car”. It has only 68 miles. It doesn’t get any better than that. It is the only GT-H to have a 4:10 rear axle ratio at Carroll Shelby’s request. The other 499 cars were equipped with the optional 3:55. The dash is signed by Carroll himself. An original copy of the title in Carroll Shelby’s name is also included. In 2006, the Shelby Mustang brand was born again. A revival that is still unfolding in production today. In 2006, you couldn’t buy a Shelby, but you could rent one. The public couldn’t buy a new Shelby till 2007. Thanks to Walt Seaman, A VP of Hertz Worldwide Fleet Operation, Ford and Carroll Shelby, the 40th Anniversary edition of the Hertz Rent-A-Racer was born again. The 1st 4 cars were unique in that they had 5 speed manual transmission. Another distinct difference is that the 1st 4 cars were equipped with the optional 18 inch polished aluminum wheels instead of the 17 inch bullet style wheels.
